RESPONSORIAL PSALM:  The precepts of the Lord gladden the heart.

IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Mt 5: 29-30;   Lk 17: 1-2;   2 Rm 15: 14-21

MEDITATION:
We are both transmitters and receivers. It is what we first let enter into our hearts that determines the quality of what we transmit. So it is crucial for us to know how to distinguish between the good influences that come from the Holy Spirit and the bad influences that come from the spirits of evil and from others.

INEXPENSIVE CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND CARDS TO BENEFIT PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS
The refugees we are hoping to welcome to Hastings and to help will have been brought from the camps. Unfortunately, Christians tend to be too frightened to go to these camps because of the anti-Christian feeling that often exists in them. But you can help Christian refugees by buying Christmas cards and gifts from the Aid to the Church in Need shop at http://www.acnuk.org/products.php  Or you can phone them on 020 8642 8668 and ask them to send you a brochure. In particular, you may wish to buy Advent Calendars from them as they have Nativity scenes on them – such Advent calendars are very hard to find in the shops among the Advent calendars featuring Barbie, Disney characters, Moshi Monsters, Star Wars, Polly Pocket and Fireman Sam.

SCAFFOLDING IN CAR PARK
Please could car drivers be careful to avoid the scaffolding in the church car park.
COMMUNITY CLUB
In the hall on Mondays from 10.30am till 12 noon. Coffee/tea and biscuits 50p.
Annual subs: £3. Do join us.
CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP
Tuesdays from 8pm to 9pm in the Day Chapel in the presbytery. All are warmly welcome. We follow a simple format: Inviting the Holy Spirit, prayer for protection, thanksgiving, praise, silence/stillness in the presence of the Lord, intercessions, the Our Father and blessing.

STANDING UP FOR LIFE
Another, at least temporary, victory: In response to prayer and protests including your online petition-signing, abortions carried out by Planned Parenthood will no longer be funded by the taxpayer, at least while the investigation into Planned Parenthood’s sale on a massive scale of aborted babies or their organs is ongoing. This is the second victory for life in two weeks: last week prayer and letter-writing/emailing prompted MPs to vote against the bill to allow assisted dying. Please keep up the prayers, letter-writing and petition-signing. It is well-known that evil can flourish when good people do nothing to prevent it.
