RESPONSORIAL PSALM:  May your love be upon us, O Lord,

As we place all our hope in You.

IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Ex: 13:20-22;   Ps 118 (119);   Mt 11:25-30

Meditation:

The Word which was in the bosom of the Father

Was willingly crucified and buried,

Arose on the third day,

And gave us his great mercy.

We proclaim your death, O Lord,

And we glorify your glorious resurrection,

For you have made us worthy to partake of this wondrous banquet,

Joyfully sharing in spiritual gifts and offerings.

We sing the hymn of your victory with the angels.

From a 5th-century papyrus

PRAYER

Dear God, in the battle that goes on in life,

I ask for a field that is fair.

A chance that is equal in all of the strife,

A chance to do and to dare.

And if I should win, let it be by the code,

With my heart and my honour held high;

But if I should lose, let me stand by the road,

And cheer as the winners pass by.
