FEAST OF ST VINCENT PALLOTTI
Today, Sunday 22nd January, is the Feast of St Vincent Pallotti, founder of the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers. On 1st September 1963, Pope Blessed Paul VI, speaking at Frascati, said, “St Vincent Pallotti was a pioneer: he anticipated by almost a century the recognition that the laity could participate in the Church’s mission. In saying this one risks denigrating the Christian tradition but we must be realistic and admit that this saint gave the lay conscience a jolt by demonstrating that the laity -  previously dormant and passive, timid and unable to express itself – had a great potential for good. He released new energy, made lay people aware of their possibilities for doing good and enriched the Christian community with a huge number of vocations, not merely as a passive and tranquil acceptance of faith but as an active and militant profession of faith.” This year the feast will be celebrated ON WEDNESDAY 25th JANUARY at the Church of Our Lady of the Visitation, 358 Greenford Road, Middlesex UB6 9AN with Mass at 12.30pm followed by lunch at the Cardinal Wiseman School. All are welcome.
