(back of newsletter) 4th September 2016

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: O Lord, You have been our refuge
From one generation to the next.
IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Wis 1:1-11;   Mt 8:19-22;   Jn 12:24-26

MEDITATION:
Look back upon your past life, and you will find how critical were moments and acts, which at the time seemed the most indifferent: as, for instance…, the occasion of your falling in with those persons who have most benefited you, the accidents which determined your calling… . The most ordinary years when we seemed to be living for nothing, these shine forth in their very regularity and orderly course. The planting of Christ’s Cross in the heart is sharp and trying, but the stately tree rears itself aloft, and has fair branches and fruit, and is good to look upon.
JH Newman, ‘Christ manifested in remembrance’.

NEXT ST LEONARDS-ON-SEA DEANERY SAFEGUARDING BASIC AWARENESS TRAINING
27th September 2016 from 7pm to 9pm, at St Mary Magdalene, TN40 1RH, opposite Bexhill train station.
You can book for the training on the Arundel and Brighton Diocesan website in the Safeguarding section under courses and events. Or phone our Parish Safeguarding Representative on 07518521286 or 01424 753923. The diocese needs numbers by 20th September so they can provide the right number of handouts and refreshments. The training is for everyone, but the diocese is particularly targeting those who have a role in the parish which requires a DBS check and whose role brings them into contact with children and with adults at risk. The training is not for people who have attended one of our recent basic training evenings.
If you prefer to undertake online training, please email Rosemary.Terry@bishops-house.co.uk so that she can register you with EduCare, the national online training provider.
