RESPONSORIAL PSALM: My soul, give praise to the Lord.

IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Am 4:1-3;   Lk 18:18-30;   1 Tm 6:9-10

MEDITATION:
What is important is that we do not end up like the rich man in today’s Gospel. He had so many of the good things of life, but was unable to see beyond them. He was unable to see the obvious need in his brother and sister and he was unable to see that all of the good things that he possessed were gifts of God who wanted him to share his good fortune with those who were less fortunate. It is important that we learn to see beyond our instant world and all it offers, to see beyond it to the giver of all gifts. To set our gaze, like the poor man Lazarus, on Christ’s kingdom, the only gift worth having.

NEXT ST LEONARDS-ON-SEA DEANERY SAFEGUARDING BASIC AWARENESS TRAINING
27th September 2016 from 7pm to 9pm, at St Mary Magdalene, TN40 1RH, opposite Bexhill train station.
You can book for the training on the Arundel and Brighton Diocesan website in the Safeguarding section under courses and events. Or phone our Parish Safeguarding Representative on 07518521286 or 01424 753923. The diocese needs numbers by 20th September so they can provide the right number of handouts and refreshments. The training is for everyone, but the diocese is particularly targeting those who have a role in the parish which requires a DBS check and whose role brings them into contact with children and with adults at risk. The training is not for people who have attended one of our recent basic training evenings.
If you prefer to undertake online training, please email Rosemary.Terry@bishops-house.co.uk so that she can register you with EduCare, the national online training provider.

THE PEOPLE’S NEW TAPESTRY
has been launched as part of the Hastings Celebrates 1066 events. You can buy a panel (£5) and sew a picture of yourself on; each panel will then be assembled onto larger back pieces and then be displayed in St Clement’s at least until the 1000th anniversary. It is hoped that the Hastings embroidery will be out this year too. Email heather_agar@yahoo.co.uk or phone 01424 422242 if you’d like a panel or see the Hastings 950 Tapestry Facebook page. Please note: St Clement’s Church will be open for the next few Saturdays for you to make your panels. All materials will be provided.

CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP meets on Tuesday evenings from 8pm till 9pm in the presbytery.
All are warmly welcome.

IF YOU ACCOMPANY YOUR CHILD(REN)
to our Children’s Liturgy of the Word, please consider joining our team as Safeguarding support. All it involves is asking Chris Emary, our Safeguarding Rep, to apply for your DBS clearance and then letting us know which Sundays you can be at the liturgies. Just text 07850 561828 if you can help.
