RESPONSORIAL PSALM:  To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Ps 120 (121);   Mt 25:31-46;   Rv 3:1-6

MEDITATION:
If in the hope I should delight,
Oh Lord, of seeing You appear,
The thought that I might lose your sight
Doubles my sorrow and my fear.
Living as I do in such fright,
And yearning as I yearn, poor I
Must die because I do not die.

Oh rescue me from such a death
My God, and give me life, not fear;
Nor keep me bound and struggling here
Within the bonds of living breath.
Look how I long to see You near,
And how in such a plight I lie
Dying because I do not die!

REFUGEE CRISIS
Aidan Cantwell, who is co-ordinating help for refugees at A&B Diocese, thanks everyone from Star of the Sea who has offered help including accommodation and English teaching. You will hear from him soon and/or from the local council when refugees needing your skills and help arrive in Hastings. If you didn’t sign the parish list but would still like to help the refugees coming to Hastings, just click on the link at http://www.abdiocese.org.uk/ .
INEXPENSIVE CHRISTMAS GIFTS AND CARDS TO BENEFIT PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS
The refugees we are hoping to welcome to Hastings and to help will have been brought from the camps. Unfortunately, Christians tend to be too frightened to go to these camps because of the anti-Christian feeling that often exists in them. But you can help Christian refugees by buying Christmas cards and gifts from the Aid to the Church in Need shop at http://www.acnuk.org/products.php  Or you can phone them on 020 8642 8668 and ask them to send you a brochure. In particular, you may wish to buy Advent Calendars from them as they have Nativity scenes on them – such Advent calendars are very hard to find in the shops among the Advent calendars featuring Barbie, Disney characters, Moshi Monsters, Star Wars, Polly Pocket and Fireman Sam.
