RESPONSORIAL
PSALM: With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation.
IMPULSES FOR PRAYER: Psalm
22 (23); John 3: 1-12; Romans 6: 1-4
MEDITATION:
Jesus, loving redeemer of all nations;
Let the whole rank of the faithful
Proclaim a song of praise.
After thirty years of his incarnate life
He seeks the waters of baptism
Although he lacks all contagion of sin.
Blessed John trembles to immerse in the river
The one who is able
To cleanse sins by his blood.
Therefore from the sky the voice of the heavenly
Father
Bears witness to the Son; and the power of the Holy
Spirit,
The giver of charisms, flows forth.
With suppliant voice we pray you, Christ:
Protect us all!
Make our minds luminous that we may live purely for
You.
O Christ, life and truth, to you be all glory,
The one whom the heavenly splendour
Of the Father and the Spirit reveals.
‘Iesus
refulsit omnium’, hymn for the feast (translation by Glenstal)
